About the Artwork
Trigger Warning • Sensitive Content: Narcissism
******
The concept of the painting is the allegorical figure of the pathological narcissist who, to fuel their ego, is willing to deeply wound themselves to appear to society as a victim of their own prey – which can be a partner, friends, or even their own children.
Often, the narcissist concludes the "grand plan" with suicide, further reinforcing the victim's mask, to the point of causing distress to the designated subjects, as future suffering caused by this act.
The face portrayed in this painting, almost childlike and genuine, is reassuring. Even the naturalistic background is comforting, a theatrical set designed down to the smallest detail for their "grand plan."
It's impossible not to notice, at first glance, the deep and ingrained wounds (also symbolic, due to the unconscious consumption caused by the pathology).
Their dark, black, cold, and calculating eyes, the faint smile hidden by the abrasion of the gag (representing the attempts – by the designated victim – to fight the Narcissist, whose Word is the main weapon), and the large black void around them... Once you notice it, it will be too late, because you have already fallen into their trap.
The only way to avoid the Narcissist is to ignore their probing gaze and their cries for help. Those who have experienced it will be more likely to recognize the distinctive traits of the "grand plan" trap.
This is my representation of the Devil. A palpable and insidious figure... Real.
