Oneanthe Crocata (Water Fennel)
Also known as Parsley, it grows along waterways and is very poisonous. The killer toxin in this plant is called enanthotoxin and produces the so-called “sardonic smile”. Anyone who ingests it is left with a smile because this toxin relaxes the muscles around the lips while the rest of the body goes through deadly convulsions. Furthermore, its roots are said to have a very pleasant taste before poisoning those who consume them.
